Happy Hips Months

This is how I have been feeling since the start of September! Groovy and in the mood to dance to the song September by Earth, Wind, and fire. 43 years later, this song can still get people on the dance floor regardless of how good you’re as a mover.

The pelvis is at the center of it all

I am so excited because I have a lot of things planned for this month. If you like dancing, then you know that you need to move your hips. Being stiff is not that pretty to look at when you dance, sorry, but that’s the truth. Being loose is not good either. Leave that to Shakira. In Pilates, we are looking at all the muscles to move in synch. The pelvis has around 32 muscles attachments. So you get the idea, it’s pretty important to maintain a good balance in the pelvis and for so many reasons.

  • Balance

  • Posture

  • Stability

Those are just a few of the reasons to have a dynamically strong pelvis.

This month’s theme, Pelvis, is what we are going to be focusing on.  When you have a moment, check out the schedule; as I mentioned a few weeks ago, think about how you move and what are the things that you struggle with within your pelvis. If you’re a person who likes to move, golf, run, belly dance, weight boarding, and other activities, then you should know that your pelvis is always at the center of it all, and you can’t ignore it.

See you on the mat,

Jeanique
