Last week I mentioned how pilates hips strengthening exercises is key to the abdominal muscles

It’s been interesting to see in the past few weeks how we all individually connect to ourselves in a very unique way. Did you find yourself asking these questions in your head: “How are all these topics helping me get fit? Lose weight? Tone my muscles”? Good questions and the simple answer is – by gaining awareness. The more aware you are of yourself, the more efficient you will be at building strength. Toning muscles in Pilates doesn’t require big resistance but rather the muscle firing in the right alignment that you place yourself in. That’s your mind-body connection right there. When you make an effort to engage your mind in what you’re doing, not only are you waking up thousands of nerves that control your muscles to fire, but you’re also training your brain to focus on one task; and we all need a bit more focus nowadays.

Life moves fast, and because of that sometimes it can feel stressful and draining. Pilates not only helps us stay strong physically but also mentally. Even if you decide to do just 10 minutes of exercise today – just moving your pelvis, for example – you’re still going to receive plenty of new awakened neurons.

If you missed the lazy workout, here it is. Sometimes that’s all we need to reconnect, and when you are ready, here are a few added variations for your mid-week routine.
