Debbie Palmer – I want to become a Pilates instructor to share the empowerment of movement, the ability for a broken body to relearn movement in a way that makes sense.
After spending years learning how to recover and heal herself with Pilates, we are excited to welcome Debbie to the Advanced Pilates program.
❤️ By the time I discovered Pilates, I was struggling with an old fracture in my 3rd cervical vertebra that just wouldn’t heal. All I wanted was to return to weightlifting and feel like my old self again. But without knowing how to properly align my neck over my shoulders, I ended up injuring myself even more. Pain became a constant companion, and painkillers were the only way I could manage the long hours I spent as a hairdresser.
📈After consulting numerous doctors, all of whom recommended spinal fusion from C2 to T1 for stability, I felt like I was running out of options. Then, one surgeon suggested Pilates as a last resort, which marked the beginning of my incredible Pilates journey. Thirteen years later, practicing Pilates four to five times a week, I can honestly say it has transformed my life.
💪🏻💕Pilates not only helped me manage my injury from my early skydiving days, but it also empowered me to reclaim my life. Now, I want to become a Pilates teacher to share the empowerment of movement, the ability for a broken body to relearn movement in a way that make sense. It takes dedication and time, but the freedom of movement is the reward. I am fortunate to have an incredible mentor who, with much patience, has taught me to be ‘present’ in both class and in life.
🐈🐾 In addition to being a hairdresser, Debbie runs a foster home for abandoned dogs and cats, a passion that Pilates has enabled her to pursue with energy and joy.
