Alignment

Alignment isn’t a rigid structure where we stand like an army guy, also known as military posture.

Wear your bathing suit, and let’s get started! 😅

I’m kidding; I use a one-piece bathing suit as imagery in today’s video to align the core muscles for today’s cueing. This class is not about beginners or advanced. It’s to refresh your alignments.

To go deeper and get even stronger than we perceive ourselves to be, we need to keep ourselves in alignment. When we use an image and visualization, our nervous system is triggered to awaken the right muscles.

Alignment isn’t a rigid structure where we stand like an army guy, also known as military posture.

Alignment allows you to be more relaxed, knowing that your body is in harmony when you are exercising. Pain or discomfort is always an indication that we’re not aligned in our bodies or minds. When I place myself in alignment, become aware of what I am doing, and use an image like a bathing suit, I can relax my overworked traps muscles. How many times have you caught yourself raising your shoulders to your ears? By becoming aware of your pattern, you decrease its control over you

The muscles attached to your shoulders can become overworked, and funny enough, they start to do the work of the core muscles. I have felt it in my body and observed it with other people.

When you get used to holding your shoulders up to your ears, I guarantee you that you will do the same position when you do exercises like pushups. Automatically, that will become your default position which will cause pain in your neck. I find that thinking of pulling a tight bathing suit over your abdomen in this position awakens the abdominal muscles to support your work – thus giving you the strength to do more pushups. This ready position brings harmony with all your muscles, decreases muscle tension, and eventually avoids pain or overworked muscles.

This cue, ‘the bathing suit,’ also allows you to get centered faster (although moving from your center is in next week’s class).

Life can get busy. I love doing an advanced workout, but lately, my body wants both –  advanced for progression but calmed and controlled for relaxation.

If you don’t make it to your favorite class, use today’s video to bring you back to your center.
