Dealing with Pandemic as a Pilates Teacher

4 tips for aspire teachers to be

I absolutely love love love my new job as a Classical Pilates teacher. It gives me such satisfaction making someone feel better in mind, body, and soul. As much as I enjoy teaching group classes and giving the clients a full-flow workout, I also like the diversity of 1 to 1’s and dealing with different injuries, and learning new things about the body every day.

WOW… what a year I have had. Starting my teaching year off at a new studio and building my clients up from scratch was so exciting and through advertising on social media, and word of mouth I managed to grow my name…..Then Lockdown happened 🙁 . Causing my family to move countries back to my home in the UK. Now I have new challenges of different Pilates studios with lots of different styles of training. I am still searching for the right place for me. But I have learnt that what I have studied with The Pilates Centre and with jeanique Pilates I truly believe in this method. I will continue and stay true to this as I move forward.

I am not going to lie, but at first I really freaked out with the whole virtual world and teaching on Zoom,  I wasn’t sure it was for me. But once I started it it has definitely worked well. I have been doing 1-1 and group classes through zoom. Like every pilates teacher in the world, it has challenged me to be very creative with my words and to verbally express what I am looking for through my computer screen.

What’s your advice for anyone who wants to start the Pilates Center Teacher Training who has doubt and fears how they’re gonna make it all work?

For anyone that is about to embark on the TPC teacher training course, my advice is “Do it !!!!!”.  It was the most challenging, yet most rewarding training I have ever done.  Here are a few pointers from me that hopefully will help.

Host Advisor.

Make sure you have the right Host advisor for you. The Host Advisor is there to help and keep answering your questions as well as not put you down, but to help and pick you up and push you to the best of your ability.

Planning
Get your diary and weekly planners ready. Being on top of your weeks and scheduling all that is needed and as well as being a little ahead of yourself if you can at some times.

Practice.
Your body will go through an amazing journey of strength and change. Believe me it will break, but once you are on that home run to the end and completing level 5 it is insane what you can and will achieve. Keep your personal workouts going.

Learning

Discover how you learn !!!

I really panicked  with the Anatomy side of the course. I really am not good at reading a book and taking it all in. So I had to search and play around with how  the best way for me to learn and I found flashcards was best for me.

Support system

Your support group needs to be right there with you, friends and family to cheer you along the way.
