What made you start Pilates :
Thanks to Jeanique, I became a great Yoga fan, then a difficult pregnancy stopped me from practicing. Jeanique advised me to try and continue exercising with Tower Pilates, since the springs support will be helpful with my situation. Then when I became a working mom the 60 minutes of intense workout combined with stretching and breathing technique that is Pilates became the ideal solution for me.
Did you see any difference since you’ve started.
Absolutely : I started as a 90 + kg worth person without any muscles (bed rest during pregnancy and a broken arm put me in a difficult position) and now I can enjoy a level 4 training doing 99% of the exercises and saving some time for stretching.
Prior to Jeanique Pilates did you do Pilates?
I have never tried Pilates, nor Yoga before meeting Jeanique. And she was what made the difference for me.
I ‘ve practices many sports in life and I have collected an interesting array of injuries by the time I met Jeanique, and this was not a problem at all with her. Even in a Yoga class of 10 people she managed to see what I had to correct and always gave me variations that helped me progressed, always respecting my body and my limits.
After 1 lesson! She helped me understand that my chronic knee issues are due to historically weak and rigid ankles. Something that an endless number of trainers and orthopedist never told me in 10 years.
Not only , but after I went back to work, I could no longer attend her classes after work like I used to and I really wanted to continue following her classes. And she made it happened: Now I can work out twice a week at 7am because this is the person Jeanique is : she believes in you and does whatever she can to support you and your efforts.
It’s rare to find somebody
that really SEES you
and believes in you to this point…
and of course I will to attend any classes she teachers 🙂
To me Pilates seems very focused on the body, from teaching you how to breathe to learning where each muscle are and what it can do for you – this is crucial : everything in your life improves with Pilates, from being able to walk properly on high heels, to be able to walk 15 floors of stairs without any issue.
I feel that yoga considers the whole body, including the exercises for your mind and for your soul. Having an empty and focused mind to deal with what’s inside your soul is as important in your yoga practice as what you do with your body.
What were your goals when you started to take Pilates?
Did you achieve those goals? Once again Jeanique helped me formulating my goals: becoming strong again, going back to a body that supports me and allows me to live the life I want. And yes, I did achieve this 🙂 very happily so.
