It’s hard to feel underdeveloped muscles such as the psoas, the deep spinal muscles, and inner thighs. That’s because they are not yet under our control. Therefore we need to concentrate when we practice Pilates.
Concentration and awareness are the 1st of the six guiding principles of Pilates. Concentration allows your mind to focus on:
- Moving with the correct form.
- Aligning yourself with the correct muscles.
- Executing the proper movement at any time, mat or equipment from the center
- Controlling your workout and muscles
- Applying the principles and skills of Pilates
- Coordinating asymmetrical and complex movements like moving your legs, arms, and spine from the core.
