Things I wish I knew during my teaching training program

Hey I am Jeanique

Welcome, I am so excited that you stopped by. I love The Classical Pilates Method, and I want to share everything I have learned to inspire your practice.

When I first started practising Pilates, I didn’t fully grasp the depth of the skills, foundations, or fundamentals. But from the very first session, I knew I craved more of that feeling it gave me. As my journey unfolded, it became clear that Pilates was the missing piece to my strength. 💪 For the first time, I no longer feared that my lower back would suffer during core exercises. Naturally, the next step was diving deeper through the TPC Teacher Training Program.

What I didn’t realize back then, as I worked on myself during training, was that to fully embrace the benefits of Pilates, I needed to make a conscious decision: I had to slow down. 🕰️ By giving myself time to fully integrate the work, I could release old movement patterns and stop relying on tight areas I had wrongly believed were signs of strength.

Looking back, I realize there are a few key insights I wish I had known earlier in my journey. For anyone starting their Pilates practice, here are my tips:

1. Even if you’re a quick learner, take time to go deeper. True progress requires patience and commitment, but it’s worth the effort. 🌀

2. Sometimes, you must unlearn to learn. 🌱 Old habits can block authentic growth.

3. Be kind to yourself as you work through the process. 🤗 Trust that you’ll get there.

4. Allow your body time to absorb the practice. Slow down other activities and give yourself space to release old patterns and discover more effective ways to move. 🧘‍♀️✨

5. Your personal journey informs your teaching. The deeper your practice, the more you can offer future students. 🌟
